ENVIRONMENT FEE IN LADAKH

The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) has implemented an environmental fee for all tourists visiting Ladakh. The fee is aimed at generating revenue for environmental conservation and sustainable tourism development in the region. The environmental fee is applicable to all tourists, including domestic and foreign nationals, and is collected at the time of entry into Ladakh.

The environmental fee for domestic tourists is Rs. 20 per person per day, while foreign nationals are charged Rs. 400 per person per day. The fee is valid for the entire duration of the tourist’s stay in Ladakh, and the revenue generated from the fee is used for environmental conservation and sustainable tourism development initiatives such as waste management, renewable energy, and conservation of natural resources.

It is important to note that the environmental fee is mandatory and must be paid by all tourists visiting Ladakh. Failure to pay the fee can result in penalties or fines, and the fee cannot be waived off or refunded. The fee is collected by the LAHDC and is used for the betterment of the region’s environment and the local community.

In conclusion, the environmental fee in Ladakh is a small contribution towards environmental conservation and sustainable tourism development in the region. It is important for all tourists to comply with the fee to support the efforts towards preserving Ladakh’s unique cultural and natural heritage for future generations.
